Day 1, Saturday, Arrival – Antigua
Upon your arrival at the Guatemala airport you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your Antigua hotel. Top
Day 2, Sunday, Chichi Market
Today your guide will take you to the famous market at Chichicastenango. (about 2hrs) There be penalty of time for shopping in this fabulous craft market and an opportunity to see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church before transferring on to Lake Atitlan. (B,L)
Day 3, Monday, Lake Tour & Visit to Villages
This morning you will take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan to the village of San Juan La Laguna to visit a textile cooperative, medicinal plant center and local naif painter workshops. Then on to Santiago to tour the village, visiting the Maya God Maximon and learning about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. Return to Lake Atitlan (B,L)
Day 4, Tuesday, Solola Market & Iximche
Today you will visit the colorful authentic market at Solola and enjoy a tour of the market. Lunch will be in a traditional restaurant on route back to Antigua. There will also be a short tour of the small Maya Archaeology site at Iximche. Return to Antigua. (B,L)
Day 5, Wednesday, Architecture & History Tour
Your guide will take you on a half day walking tour of Antigua. The tour takes in the main square, Palace, Cathedral, La Merced Church & San Francisco Church. Afternoon free to explore Antiqua on your own. (B) Top
Day 6: Thursday, Yaxha Tour
You will transfer to Guatemala City and take the morning flight up to Flores. You will be met at the airport by your private driver for the transfer to your hotel in the Tikal area, and have some time to relax. After lunch you will be driven to Yaxha National Park to explore this atmospheric lakeside site. (B)
Day 7, Friday, Tikal
You will enjoy a tour with a local guide knowledgeable in the ancient Mayan culture. Here you can explore the amazing UNESCO protected Mayan Temple site of Tikal where huge Mayan temples rise above the jungle canopy and monkeys and tropical birds are abundant in the surrounding rainforest. After lunch you will transfer back to Flores airport and fly to Guatemala City. At the airport your driver will meet you for a transfer to your hotel in Guatemala City. (B,L)
Day 8, Saturday, Transfer Out
Today your driver will meet you at the hotel to transfer you to the airport in time for their international flight out. (B)
Note on Guiding : Day 1 through Day 5 You are with the same guide. On Day 6 you fly to Flores on your own and are met by another guide for the Yaxha & Tikal Tour. The final transfers in Guatemala City on days 7 & 8 are unguided.
